2016 United Way Stuff the Sleigh

Getting to school in the cold can be a challenge, but because of our Stuff the Sleigh donations more local students are staying warm while walking to school or waiting for the bus this winter.
What is Stuff the Sleigh?
This year was the second annual United Way Stuff the Sleigh. We asked local workplaces and individuals to participate by donating new hats, mittens and gloves. The goal of this program is to help keep kids learning during the long winter months by ensuring they attend school even on the coldest days of the year. This year, thanks to our workplace partners and many generous indiviudals, more than 2,000 items were donated.
On Friday, December 16, volunteers delivered the donated hats, mittens and gloves to students in Hartford Public Schools. In the coming weeks, more will be delivered to students in other schools throughout our region. This is just one way we together with partners, donors and volunteers to break down the barriers that prevent kids from attending school regularly.
