United Way Summer of Action

Together, we can take action this summer! This page is a helpful tool for those looking to give back as well as for those who are looking for resources.  We understand that summer is often a difficult time for hardworking families in our region as many children in ALICE* communities fall three grade levels behind over the summer compared to their more affluent peers.  Our goal is to increase opportunities for families to enroll their children in affordable, enriching summer programs that help keep them on track developmentally when school is out.

We invite you to join us by investing in our community this summer and helping reduce summer learning loss through volunteering, hosting a back-to-school supply drive and donating to United Way in support of investing in quality summer enrichment programs.

*ALICE is a United Way-coined acronym that stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. ALICE families work hard – often multiple jobs – yet, still struggle to afford the basics. Learn more at alice.ctunitedway.org
