The guilty verdicts in the trial of Derek Chauvin were an important step forward for accountability and justice. However, no verdict or number of actions have the power to bring George Floyd back nor do they eliminate the trauma and difficulties faced by his family members, friends and those who witnessed his murder.
Recognizing how challenging our current times are, especially for those subjected to racism and injustice, we stand firm as one United voice in solidarity, determined to be the change needed to overcome the long history of violence against communities of color.
United Way will continue to work toward more equitable outcomes for all by focusing on achieving our vision of a community where opportunities are available for every child to succeed in school and for all families to achieve financial security. We will continue the fight for equity and justice for every person in every community.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
