Brews to Benefit Local Children and Families

Read for the Record

Nov.07, 2019

Join United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut for the 14th anniversary of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®, a campaign mobilizing volunteers to read in classrooms.

The goal is to have the most people reading the same book on the same day to children across the globe.

This year’s book is “Thank You, Omu!” by Oge Mora.

Why this program matters: At United Way, we strive to create a community where every child and every family has the opportunity to succeed. We tackle tough problems, addressing immediate needs and finding long-term solutions. We do this by investing in programs, initiatives and services and by mobilizing volunteers. Because, we know that United, we can do more than anyone can do alone. One example is Read for the Record, a program that pairs a volunteer reader with a classroom to create excitement around reading.
