The Arc of the Farmington Valley, Inc. (FAVARH)

Lauren and Scott became acquainted through Favarh. They both sought help to find employment and adult living accommodations. Separately they both participated in many recreation programs and employment opportunities. Lauren became a self advocate and was a member of Favarh’s Board of Directors, while Scott actively participated in Special Olympic sports. Soon Lauren and Scott’s paths crossed and it became obvious that there was a definite “spark” between them. They began to participate in the same activities and spend more time together, and before long ….. they fell in love. They wanted what most young couples want- to be together- to get engaged and eventually get married. So they began to plan for their future by obtaining employment to pay the rent and other expenses so that they could live together on their own. They made it happen! Lauren is employed full time at Beanz & Company in Avon and Scott is employed at MW Industries in Southington. They were able to move into one of Favarh’s independent supported apartments at Bear Woods in Canton and are planning for their wedding in 2022!
