United Way > Grocery Assistance

Thank you to all that have joined Connecticut United Ways’ efforts to tackle hunger and provide support to individuals and families facing challenging times. More than 2,000 gift-cards for groceries have been distributed by local United Ways statewide, in partnership with municipalities and nonprofit partners. All United Ways in Connecticut participated, and cards were distributed based on local need in each region.

At this moment, we continue our fundraising efforts to secure another round of gift-cards for distribution in January. In the meantime, if you or someone you know is in need of support finding food resources, please visit 211ct.org or call to 2-1-1 for the most up-to-date information for their specific circumstances.

Connecticut United Ways are proud to partner with State Representative Jaime Foster, Representative Jennifer Leeper, and a bipartisan, bicameral coalition of Connecticut legislators and community partners to support children and seniors experiencing increased food insecurity as a result of the federal government shutdown. Proceeds will be distributed to residents across Connecticut.

Together, we are working to ensure that Connecticut families and older adults continue to have access to healthy, sustaining food during this challenging time.

Funds raised through this campaign will be used to provide grocery-store gift cards and direct food assistance to those most in need across the state.

Your generosity can make an immediate impact. Join us in helping our neighbors today.

The Emergency Grocery Assistance fund is in partnership with Representative Foster, Representative Leeper and a bipartisan group of legislators. Proceeds will be distributed to residents across Connecticut.
