Hartford, Conn. (September 24, 2024) – United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut announced today that the legendary actress and singer Bernadette Peters will perform at its Centennial Gala on December 14 at the Connecticut Convention Center.
Best known for her work on stage and one of Broadway’s most critically acclaimed performers, Peters has garnered numerous accolades including three Tony Awards, a Golden Globe, four Emmy and four Grammy Award nominations and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“United Way is excited to have Bernadette Peters join us at our once-in-a-century milestone event. Her performance will offer a unique and special experience for our attendees and long-time supporters of our mission,” said Eric Harrison, President and CEO, United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. “In addition to enjoying Peters’ performance, event attendees can expect to network with 1,000 area professionals, commemorate United Way’s robust history and be among the first to hear United Way’s Onward860 Strategic Plan announcements,” added Harrison.
As the organization celebrates its 100th year of service, United Way has embarked on developing its new strategic vision focused on closing gaps in child literacy, housing, wages and life expectancy to eliminate poverty in all its forms. Proceeds from the Centennial Gala will support the next steps of this bold vision to ensure equitable opportunities are available for everyone to succeed.
“This Gala will be the beginning of our new path, Onward860, culminating after two amazing years of community conversations and design sessions with partners from all sectors. We are eager to reveal our strategic vision at this event. We are equipped and committed to co-create a brighter future for the 860 region,” Harrison concluded.
United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut’s Centennial Gala takes place Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. at the Connecticut Convention Center located in Hartford, CT.
