United Way Hosts Inaugural Employee Engagement Summit

More than 60 local business and nonprofit professionals participated in United Way’s first-ever Employee Engagement Summit on June 25th at Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford. Keynote speaker Stan Phelps challenged attendees to think differently about their most important stakeholders: customers and employees, while breakout sessions informed on everything from work/life balance to workplace giving best practices to creating meaningful volunteer experiences.

United Way Awarded $75,000 in Invest Health Funding

The Reinvestment Fund and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation recently awarded United Way with $75,000 for Invest Health, an initiative aimed at accelerating better health in communities across the United States. The resources will be used to improve the city’s food system; reduce blight; and, address public safety concerns through built environment development for those who live, work and play in the North Hartford Promise Zone (NHPZ) and the North End.

Thank you for making the 8th Annual Power of the Purse Luncheon and Silent Auction
a great success. With a theme of ‘Take Action for ALICE’, more than $415,000 (and counting) was raised for United Way-supported programs that help local women and families get on the pathway to financial stability.

Volunteer Spotlight: United Way Day of Action

Seventy-five volunteers joined us in celebrating United Way Day of Action on June 21st by spreading the word about free summer programming and meals for local children and families. The day culminated with a block party at Sarah J. Rawson Elementary School, Hartford. United Way Day of Action is a global event with tens of thousands of people coming together to be part of solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives.

Stuff the Bus with United Way and keep kids learning!

Join us for United Way Stuff the Bus night at the Hartford Yard Goats baseball game. Tickets are $13 each and a portion of proceeds benefiting United Way Youth Success programs. We welcome you to bring school supplies with you to the game. There will be collection bins near the main entrance.
