United Way Women United Closes Financial Gaps in the 860 Region

On June 11, 2026, United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut gathered nearly 800 area professionals who raised more than $307,000 through Women United’s 15th Annual Power of the Purse presented by Hartford HealthCare. The fundraiser’s keynote speaker, Stephanie Land – best-selling author, memoirist, and economic justice advocate – reflected on the challenges thousands of women face when navigating poverty.  The funds raised at Power of the Purse will help close financial gaps and create opportunities through innovative, collaborative community initiatives designed to help end poverty so everyone in the 860 region succeeds.
