Bestselling author, memoirist, and economic justice advocate – debuted her memoir “Maid” as a recount of her harrowing saga as a single mom navigating the poverty trap. Land’s second memoir “Class” picks up where “Maid” left off as she faced the new challenges of being a poor college student and single parent.
Land writes about economic and social justice, domestic abuse, chronic illness, and motherhood, and has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Atlantic, and The New York Review of Books, among many other outlets. A writing fellow at the Center for Community Change, she has worked with Barbara Ehrenreich at the Economic Hardship Reporting Project. She is an arts and entertainment ambassador for the National Domestic Workers Alliance, which works to build respect, recognition, and rights for more than 2.2 million nannies, housecleaners, and home care workers who do the essential work of caring for our loved ones and our homes. She is at work on her third book, The Privilege to Feel.
