Join United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut and Hartford Public Library in celebrating the 18th anniversary of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®, a campaign mobilizing volunteers to read to students in the classroom.

Why this program matters:
Read for the Record is one way that United Way, along with our partners, highlights the importance of building early literacy and language skills for every child. Our goal is for children to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed and read proficiently by the start of fourth grade, which is a key indicator of future success. Together, we can keep children on track academically.
Our United Way is proud to be recognized in Jumpstart’s Top 25 Participants for Read for the Record, ranking fourth as one of the largest mobilization of volunteers.
