Hartford, Conn. (October 1, 2024) – United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut has been awarded a Top Workplaces 2024 honor by Hartford Courant Top Workplaces. This list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage LLC. The confidential survey uniquely measures the employee experience and its component themes, including employees feeling Respected & Supported, Enabled to Grow and Empowered to Execute, to name a few.
“I truly believe that the biggest asset of an organization is its employees. When I started at this United Way two and a half years ago, I prioritized culture and employee engagement within our organization, and I consider this recognition as confirmation that we are going in the right direction. We are honored as the award is based solely on our staff’s feedback,” said Eric Harrison, President and CEO, United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. “I’m eager to see how far we can go as a team. With our new strategic plan in place, a bold vision and our great staff – I know we will work effectively and efficiently to create an equitable region for all,” Harrison concluded.
United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut had 40 full-time and 10 contracted employees at the time of the survey, with thirty eight percent (38%) of its workforce having more than 5 years of tenure. The organization is currently celebrating its Centennial milestone and is developing a new strategic vision focused on ending poverty in all its forms by closing gaps in child literacy, wages, life expectancy and housing across the 860 region.
“Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “That’s something to be proud of. In today’s market, leaders must ensure they’re allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That’s paramount. Top Workplaces do this, and it pays dividends.”
In addition to this recognition, United Way recently announced the appointment of its President and CEO, Eric Harrison, as a 2024 Hartford Business Journal C-Suite Award Honoree and its Director of Economic Mobility Initiatives, Taniqua K. Huguley-Chaplin, as a 2024 Hartford Business Journal 40 Under Forty Honoree.
