United Way Emergency Response

COVID-19 Response Fund

Neighbors in Need

Neighbors in NeedOver the last several weeks, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in increased cases and widespread closures of businesses, schools, and nonprofits creating increasingly dire economic consequences for local families.

In response, we have launched our United Way Neighbors in Need fund to assist individuals and families in central and northeastern Connecticut with food; emergency assistance; and, childcare. A portion of the funds we raise will also support statewide efforts for food and emergency assistance through the Connecticut United Ways COVID-19 Response Fund, a collaboration among local United Ways. As this pandemic continues to evolve, so too will the needs of our community. Both funds will allow for flexibility in meeting those needs.

At United Way, we are committed to ensuring basic needs are met. We need to work together to achieve that, now more than ever. We can’t do it alone and we can’t do it without you.

Please consider a gift to United Way Neighbors in Need. While the path ahead might feel uncertain, we know that together we will make a difference and support our neighbors. Thank you for your ongoing generosity and support. Stay well.

We are proud to partner with the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut in coordinating a philanthropic response to COVID-19.

Stay Safe, Stay Home

United Way 2-1-1

Governor Ned Lamont announced that the State of Connecticut has partnered with United Way of Connecticut to launch an information hotline for questions from the public regarding issues related to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). People who have questions can call 2-1-1 or text “CTCOVID” to 898211. Anyone experiencing symptoms is strongly urged to contact their medical provider to seek treatment.

Donate Technology

Goodwin University is looking to access donated laptops that will get in the hands of students, or funding to be able to purchase laptops for students. The students who don’t have laptops are often the people who are struggling to think about basic needs.

Contact Sandra Ward: SWard@goodwin.edu if you are able to help.
