860CARES:
NATIONAL VOLUNTEER MONTH

United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut has a bold vision for the future: ONWARD860.

April is National Volunteer Month and your group can join us in forging a new path to close gaps in child literacy and household necessities. By participating in United Way’s National Volunteer Month, you and your colleagues are helping reduce poverty and co-create a community where everyone has opportunities to succeed.

There are two ways to participate:

UNITED WE CARE KITS

United Way is hosting United We Care Kit assembly at our offices. Perfect for groups of 10-40 workplace volunteers, together you will assemble 100 United We Care Kits for local families in celebration of United Way’s Centennial Anniversary. Our goal is to complete and distribute 1,000 United We Care Kits in the month of April.

  • United We Care Kits include essential items that help children achieve academic milestones and stock homes with essential items that keep people healthy.
  • Select dates and times are available and may be flexible upon request.
  • Location: United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, 30 Laurel Street, Hartford CT 06106
Please contact us if your group requires an alternative location.
  • United We Care Kits require a $15 per kit donation and a minimum of 10 volunteers with a maximum of 40 volunteers.

Community Beautification

United Way is hosting community beautification projects at outdoor community spaces. Perfect for groups of 10-25 workplace volunteers, together you will commit to the outdoor beautification in celebration of United Way’s Centennial Anniversary and in honor of Earth Day.

  • Community beautification experiences include outdoor park clean-ups, light landscaping and community gardening.
  • Select dates and times are available.
  • Location: outdoor community spaces throughout Greater Hartford
  • Community beautification projects require a $150 donation for groups that are not currently financially invested in United Way and a minimum of 10 volunteers with a maximum of 25 volunteers.
