United Way’s mission is to bring together people and resources for the well-being of children and families. We are committed to building a thriving community where there is equal access to education, economic opportunity and healthcare for all. The recent Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade will present a significant obstacle to these goals for many women and families across the country. Limiting abortion access has implications for educational attainment and ultimately financial security among those seeking abortions. We are fortunate that in Connecticut rights and protections remain intact, and those with the resources to travel here will be welcomed to receive care.
The decision has further divided our country during a time when many are continuing to struggle with pandemic-related challenges, and after several years of political upheaval. Although the challenge is now greater than ever, we remain committed to bringing our community together to help children and families succeed. At times of great division, the need to LIVE UNITED is greater than ever. Join us.
