United Way Joins In Supporting Our Schools Drive
United Way of New Britain and Berlin Regional Advisory Board recently made an award to end youth homelessness in New Britain as part of a statewide 100-Day Challenge. The 100-Day Challenge in the central region had a goal of safely housing 40 homeless and unaccompanied youth aged 16-24 and connecting them to support services such as employment as well as physical and mental health services. With support of other local funders and partners Bristol Boys and Girls Club, New Britain Mayor’s Task Force to End Homelessness, the Department of Housing and Journey Home, the team exceeded its goal by housing 44 youth.
