Hartford, Conn. (January 6, 2025) — United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut announced recently that it will move its office location to One State Street in downtown Hartford.
“Our move to One State Street is a coming home story. United Way’s new location is especially meaningful for us due to the relationship that we have with our new landlord and long-time partner HSB. Our century-long relationship with HSB began when William R.C. Corson, the then Vice President of HSB, joined two other leaders in our region to found Hartford Community Chest (now known as United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut) on June 14, 1924,” said Eric Harrison, President and CEO, United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. “100 years later, HSB remains an extremely strong partner to United Way. We are grateful to Greg Barats and his team at HSB for embracing this opportunity and making the project a reality,” added Harrison.
United Way’s new office is a 10,000 square feet space located on the 17th floor of the HSB’s office tower, built in 1983. The organization is expected to complete its move early in 2025.
“We are delighted to welcome United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut to our building,” said Greg Barats, president and chief executive officer of HSB Group. “HSB and the United Way share a long relationship and commitment to support the needs of our neighbors in the region. We look forward to working together to help rebuild resilient, equitable communities where everyone can thrive.”
In addition to cementing their century-long relationship by inviting United Way to lease space in its building, HSB also increased their corporate support, serving as a Founding Sponsor of the organization’s Centennial Gala to honor the organizations’ longstanding shared history and sustain United Way’s strategic vision of eliminating poverty in all its forms.
“This move could not happen at a more perfect time. We are celebrating our Centennial year of service to our community, and this milestone allows us to reflect on the strong foundation, expertise and reputation we are built on while also looking toward the future. This new chapter is a win for United Way and the community. The sale of our building will allow for more time and resources to be focused on our mission and maximizing impact in our region,” concluded Harrison.
