Hartford, Conn. (August 30, 2024) – United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut announced the selection of Taniqua Huguley-Chaplin as a member of the 2024 Hartford Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty class. Huguley-Chaplin joined United Way in 2022 as Director of Economic Mobility Initiatives, which includes leading the Hartford Working Cities Challenge on behalf of United Way and its partners. This program’s vision is for Hartford to be a place where young adults have the skills and talents needed by local and regional business; contribute to the city’s economy; and, raise families who are economically secure and enjoy a good quality of life.
“Since her first day at United Way, Taniqua has performed her role with passion. Her commitment to facilitating the tools and resources young people need in Hartford to thrive is evident and completely aligned to United Way’s strategic vision to end poverty in all its forms,” said Eric Harrison, President and CEO, United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. “As we work to close financial gaps in our region, connecting young adults with opportunities to earn family-sustaining wages is key to ending poverty, and we are thrilled to have Taniqua on our team making this critical work possible.”
In addition to her role at United Way, where she also provides leadership on initiatives like Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and other economic mobility programs, Taniqua operates her own business, TKH Global Consulting, providing affordable consulting services for for-profit and non-profit organizations as well as prospective college students; and, founded and operates Black Girls Achieve, a program helping Black girls to build their confidence and amplify their voices to become the leaders of today and the future.
“As United Way celebrates its centennial year of service to our community, we are excited to celebrate future leaders who inspire others and serve as role models as we look forward to our next 100 years, including team members like Taniqua,” concluded Harrison.
“It is an honor to be recognized for my leadership and impact in the community. I owe it to God and many great leaders who have mentored and paved the way for me. I hope that my recognition encourages women and girls to continue to lead in their communities,” shared Taniqua Huguley-Chaplin.
Taniqua holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Legal Studies and a master’s degree in Public Policy both from Trinity College.
