Hartford, Conn. (June 17, 2019) — United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut today announced that the Reinvestment Fund and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation awarded the organization $75,000 in funding for Invest Health, an initiative aimed at accelerating better health in communities across the United States. Hartford was chosen as one of 10 mid-sized cities nationally to receive the investment.
The Hartford team will focus on outcomes which improve the city’s food system; reduce blight; and, address public safety concerns through built environment development for those who live, work and play in the North Hartford Promise Zone (NHPZ) and the North End.

In addition to the $75,000 grant, the Hartford team will engage with peers in a collaborative learning community and have access to highly-skilled technical advisors and coaches throughout the 12-month grant period.
