“It is critical to note that our partnership with United Way allowed the Women’s League to continue to pay staff when the center was closed for 4 months because of the pandemic.
Women’s League staff are ALICE households comprised of 96 percent women/women of color. Without the continued support of United Way, the Women’s League may have resorted to laying off staff and leaving them without health care benefits.
Although the impact on children cannot be fully measured and accounted for during while we were closed, it is important to note the Community Investment funding award did achieve a significant (if unexpected) outcome.”
