Paula found the Volunteer SNAP Enrollment Program by using our online advertising through Google by typing her name and contact information to receive a callback to set up an appointment to apply over the phone for SNAP benefits. Although she was keen to use the advertisement to ask for help, she was overwhelmed at using the state portal to complete the detailed application on her own. Our outreach made the process less daunting. Paula applied for SNAP benefits using our SNAP Outreach team services in early 2021. She was working for a landscaping company and lost her job due to the pandemic. Paula tried to apply for SNAP on her own using the paper application but had difficulty submitting all the necessary documents to The CT Department of Social Services (DSS) and was denied three times because she missed deadlines to submit her paperwork. Our SNAP Outreach team was able to help Paula apply over the phone and was able to submit all the necessary documentation to DSS. Paula was finally approved for SNAP benefits with our help, and she told us that having SNAP benefits has been “very helpful”. She was pleased with the service she received from our outreach team throughout the process.
