We’re kicking off our 2021 United Way Community Campaign in a BIG way!

2021 Upcoming Events
SEPTEMBER 9
4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
The 2021 United Way Community Campaign jumpstarts with a telethon on NBC Connecticut and Telemundo Connecticut. We’re asking United Way Champions (like you!) to join our LIVE UNITED movement by making a financial contribution and/or taking action as a volunteer.
September 8 – 11
United Way is recognizing the 20th anniversary of September 11th through service and remembrances of those who lost their lives or family members on September 11, 2021. Volunteers will build Family Emergency Preparedness Kits with sample supplies (e.g., non-perishable snacks, flashlight, whistle, first-aid kit, wipes) and receive guidelines for creating and practicing a disaster preparedness plan.
Individuals and/or groups can sign up for one or multiple days. Projects can be held either at United Way or a group workplace.
September 21 – December 7
The ELS Case Competition offers a unique eight-week opportunity for young professionals and executives to work together to solve a community challenge. Teams will be immersed in learning about a particular community challenge and positioned to identify creative solutions, develop personally and professionally, sharpen their virtual presence and form an instant network of individuals with diverse backgrounds and leadership styles.
Join us! You’re invited to the 2021 United Way Community Campaign Celebrations. Enjoy networking and local fare while hearing directly from community leaders about how your giving has made a difference in the lives of local children, adults and families. Learn about the different ways you can partner with United Way to achieve your personal, professional and community goals. You are encouraged to come to one, or come to all three celebrations.

SEPTEMBER 23
12:00 – 2:15 p.m.
Are you responsible for employee engagement at your workplace? Are philanthropy and corporate citizenship a focus of your organization? If you answered “yes” to either of these, or you’re looking to start, this summit is for you! More information to come.

United Way is proud to be a Charity Partner of the 2021 Eversource Hartford Marathon. There are two ways to participate:
1. RUN UNITED – Register to participate in the 2021 Eversource Hartford Marathon to confirm your support for United Way.
Then, create your customizable fundraising page by clicking here and selecting “Become a Fundraiser.”
2. VOLUNTEER – Join us at the 2021 Eversource Hartford Marathon and fulfill a volunteer role.

We know that reading is an essential tool for success in school, work and life. That’s why United Way is committed to providing the tools and resources for young children to read at grade-level by the start of the fourth grade. One way we do this is by being a community champion for Read for the Record. Every year, United Way joins in this global movement and mobilizes volunteers to read the same book on the same day to classrooms of children.
